SUSTAIN YOUR SOUL: A Class for Counselors & Helping Professionals with Michelle Watters. Why this class?
• With the high rate of burnout in the helping professions it is integral for counselors to sustain their energy, perspective and personal resources.
• Research shows that yoga decreases psychological distress, fatigue and exhaustion.
• This powerful practice utilizes your body as a vehicle to tune into your soul story and create moment-by-moment awareness through the physical postures.
• At the heart of every Phoenix Rising Therapeutic Yoga class, there is great emphasis on present-moment awareness. Each session gives you the opportunity to explore what is happening in you in the present moment, to get quite and listen. Thoughts, emotions, sensations, images, LIFE, are all stored in the body and can offer a wealth of info when we tune in. Body-based present-moment awareness gives us access to the capacity to be with whatever is happening now, both on the mat and in everyday life. Presence is a powerful tool that calms the mind, helps us know ourselves more deeply and offers a remedy for self-renewal.
• Bottom line, this is an opportunity created just for you to refresh and renew.

Saturday, October 28th, 9:00-10:30am. Free will offering for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness)

We will also explore the consciousness expanding nature of mantra and OM as it applies to the esoteric practices of Tantra Yoga. LISTEN TO JEFF HERE. WEEKEND RETREAT: Embodying the Inner Practice of Yoga for all Students of Yoga with Jeff Masters. Join us for a powerful weekend of exploration of the subtle aspects of Yoga and gain the tools to take your practice to a deeper level beyond basic asana and meditation. You will learn practices to purify the physical senses and connect with the transcendent senses, to gather and increase vital energy (prana) and release stored trauma in the tissues of the body in a gentle, non-invasive way. These practices, when combined with asana and meditation will create the internal ecology for transformation and, eventually, the realization of the fully actualized human potential. This weekend is guaranteed to expand your understanding of the science of yoga and re-invigorate your practice. 10 CEUs for Yoga Teachers. FEE: $150 for both days or $85 per day

Saturday, October 28th 10:30-4:30 (1 hour lunch break): The Prāṇic Pathways of Transformation – Our Nervous System and the Physical Experience of the Nāḍīs
Saturday will begin with a basic foundational knowledge of the Koshas and how they communicate with each other in our experience of the practice of yoga and daily life. From there, we will begin to unpack the pathways of awareness that lay at the boundary between sensory awareness and the subtle body. Through embodied practices, students will explore the gross (Stūla Śarīra), subtle (Sūkṣma Śarīra) and causal (Kāraṇa Śarīra) bodies and their connecting channels (Nāḍīs) of awareness and energy.

Sunday, October 29th 10:30-4:30 (1 hour lunch break) The Tantric Practice of Yoga
Sunday is all about integration. Incorporating āsana, prāṇāyāma, mantra and bandha, students will expand their awareness and energize their practice. Time will be set aside on Sunday for students to explore the energetics of physical assists and how they can be used to open up channels of energy and awareness.

GRATITUDE SERIES: Phoenix Rising Therapeutic Yoga with Michelle Watters. Why a series on gratitude? We all live in a busy, stress-filled world that keeps us on the go. Studies show that not only does being grateful feel good and promote pro-social behavior, it is also good for our hearts, our relationships, our sleep and it reduces stress. There is much to be gained when we slow down and be with what is right here in front of us. Utilizing the yoga mat and your body and breath are one way to begin to tune in and become more appreciative. Each of these Phoenix Rising Therapeutic Yoga classes gives you the opportunity to explore what is happening in you in the present moment, to get quiet and listen. Thoughts, emotions, sensations, images, LIFE, are all stored in the body and can offer a wealth of information when we tune in. Body-based present-moment awareness gives us access to the capacity to be with whatever is happening now, both on the mat and in everyday life. Presence is a powerful tool that calms the mind, helps us know ourselves more deeply and offers a remedy for self-renewal. Each week will build upon the previous week and will allow time for personal reflection or journaling. The group will be small to allow for sharing if desired. Themes for the week are:
• Week 1: Awareness of Appreciation
• Week 2: Choosing Gratitude
• Week 3: The Flow of a Grateful Heart
Wednesdays, November 1, 8 and 15th. 6:00-7:30pm in Paradise Studio. $45 for members/$55 non-members(for all 3 classes) / drop-in $20

YOGA NIDRA with Karen Kramer. Yoga Nidra, or ‘the sleep of awakening’ is a deeply relaxing, meditative and healing practice. It has been used for centuries to achieve the deepest possible state of physical relaxation while maintaining consciousness. Said to be yoga’s best kept secret, regular practice of Yoga Nidra is a mentally and physically stress-releasing tool for positive change while employing the power of intention to manifest well-being. The class consists of brief, gentle movement to get the energy pathways open with the majority of the time spent in deep physical relaxation while consciously aware.
